Two Shipments a Year
Two 6 bottle minimum shipments per year- Spring and Fall
Nestled within the historic Rancho Carmelo ranch, proudly holds the legacy of California’s inaugural Dude Ranch, dating back to the 1920s. Originally occupying seven acres, this land was once home to cabins, corrals, and outdoor classrooms where youngsters learned the arts of horseback riding, roping, fishing, and hunting. It also bears the vestiges of the renowned Bloody Bucket saloon, the final stagecoach halt before embarking on the winding journey to Cacahua Valley—a place steeped in tales of Wild West gunfights. Adjacent to this iconic saloon lies the Bucket swimming hole on the Carmel River, a timeless retreat still enjoyed by locals today.
In the 1980s, Rancho Carmelo underwent a transformation into a vineyard, initially producing Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon under prior ownership. Later, in the early 2000s, the Albanese family, led by Tom Albanese, became the proud stewards of this land. The focus shifted to the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Syrah, replacing the earlier varietals. During the replanting phase, fascinating artifacts emerged—horseshoes, spent rifle shells, and other remnants—confirming the vineyard’s terroir comprised rocky soil abundant in the nutrients essential for crafting exceptional wines.
This discovery led the family to amplify their commitment to bottled wine production, recognizing the perfect marriage of optimal soil conditions and the unique climate formed by the Salinas Valley’s warmth harmoniously blending with the cooling ocean air. Guided by the keen attention and stewardship of Frank Melicia for over 12 years, Carmelo Vineyards has now evolved into a distinguished vineyard in Carmel Valley, dedicated to the art of crafting exceptional Pinot, Syrah, and Rosé wines at our beloved Estate vineyard.
The Albanese family, led by Patti and Tom, has nurtured 20-year-old Arbiqueno olive trees on their estate. From these trees, they produce exquisite extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean region.
Each bottle of olive oil reflects the family’s dedication to preserving time-honored techniques. The olives are handpicked at peak ripeness, and the cold-pressing method retains the oil’s natural goodness and full-bodied flavor.
Beyond their exceptional olive oil, the winery also features premium wines, crafted with the same dedication by the Albanese family. The property invites you to explore the olive groves and vineyards, providing a serene retreat in the heart of California.
