Welcome to Carmelo Vineyards, a haven nestled within the historic grounds of Rancho Carmelo, boasting a rich legacy dating back to California’s first Dude Ranch in the 1920s. Our seven acres of grapevines rest on the original site of cabins, corrals, and adventurous pursuits where young souls learned the art of horseback riding, roping, fishing, and hunting.
In the 1980s, Rancho Carmelo transformed into a vineyard under earlier ownership, cultivating Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The torch passed to the Albanese family in the early 2000s, ushering in an era of Pinot Noir and Syrah, guided by the bounty of the land’s rocky, nutrient-rich soil and the ideal climate formed by the fusion of Salinas Valley’s warmth and the Pacific’s cooling breeze.
